Rainbow PON Splitters: Making FTTH Easier to Scale and Operate

As FTTH networks scale, operators face a challenge to maximize the capacity of existing PON cabinets. At the same time, higher fiber counts and denser cabinets also make networks harder to manage, troubleshoot and maintain. Technicians waste valuable time tracing fibers in crowded cabinets and implementing periodic “clean-ups” of tangled fiber.

LambdaGain Rainbow PON Splitters address both sides of that problem: higher density and easier fiber identification.

Rainbow splitters already proven through deployments with leading network operators, combining compact packaging and ease-of-use with the robustness required for long-term field reliability.

More Density in the Same Space

Thanks to their compact form factor, LambdaGain Rainbow Splitters allow operators to increase splitter density within limited cabinet space—helping accommodate subscriber growth while making better use of existing infrastructure. They’re compatible with LambdaGain WST-family FTTH terminals, or operators can retrofit them into existing FTTH cabinets from leading OEMs, bringing space and time savings to both new builds and network expansions.

Splitter Color Coding Simplifies Operations

Each splitter uses individually colored pigtails, giving technicians an immediate visual reference inside increasingly dense cabinets. Color coding helps technicians quickly identify outputs, trace connections, troubleshoot issues and reduce the risk of working on the wrong fiber.

The color code is based on the widely deployed TIA-598 12-color code sequence for identifying individual fiber optic strands, making it easy for technicians to adapt to the new system.

Built for the Outside Plant

LambdaGain Rainbow Splitters are engineered for demanding outside-plant environments including the cold temperatures common in Canadian and the Northern US states. They feature bend-insensitive G657.A2 fiber legs that stay flexible and easy to route in cabinets even at -40 °C, allowing deployments to proceed during the cold temperature months.

Making FTTH Easier to Scale—and Operate

As FTTH networks grow, scalability is not only about how many subscribers a cabinet can support. It is also about how efficiently technicians can operate the network over its lifetime.

LambdaGain Rainbow PON Splitters combine higher density, easier identification and field-proven durability to help operators build FTTH networks that are both scalable and easier to manage.

They are part of the expanding LambdaGain portfolio of outside-plant and FTTH infrastructure solutions.
